Andrew McGuire Elected as South-Central Region Vice President of the NACE
– National Association of County Engineers, Washington, DC
Keokuk and Mahaska County Engineer Andrew McGuire was installed as South-Central Region Vice President of the National Association of County Engineers (NACE) at their recent annual meeting and technical conference. McGuire’s term will run through April of 2026.
NACE is a nonprofit, nonpartisan professional association in its 68th year, representing over 3,000 county road officials and related professionals in the U.S. and Canada. In the U.S., local roads account for about 75% of highways and roads, or 2.93 million miles. Counties manage 1.74 million miles of those roads. Counties also own 231,000 bridges and operate one-third of the nation’s transit systems.
“It is an honor and privilege to serve the nation’s county road professionals for this term,” said McGuire. “I am humbled by the faith my fellow engineers have placed in me and look forward to joining the nation’s county road professionals to ensure our national transportation network remains strong, safe, and secure. Infrastructure policy is a key component of our nation’s economic success, and I look forward to ensuring county priorities have a seat at the table.”
McGuire has been with Keokuk County since 2011 and with Mahaska County since 2019. He is responsible for engineering and maintenance on nearly 2,000 centerline miles of roadways and nearly 400 bridges. Prior to working for Keokuk and Mahaska Counties, Andrew worked for Linn County, Iowa as an assistant engineer as well as in the private sector for two different firms focusing on civil engineering, architecture and construction. Andrew serves as the vice-president of the Iowa County Engineers Association, was a member of the Iowa Highway Research Board from 2017-2022 and served as the Chair of Iowa Highway Research Board in 2022. Additionally, Andrew serves on a variety of state and national committees, including co-chair of the NACE unpaved roads committee. Andrew is a proud graduate of the University of Iowa where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, and Kirkwood Community College where he received and Associate of Applied Sciences degree in Architectural Technology. In his spare time Andrew enjoys spending time with his wife and their four children on their acreage in rural Keokuk County.
