Ann Hamilton

Ann K. Hamilton passed away on July 10, 2024 in Iowa City, Iowa. She was born on October 16, 1950 in Sigourney, Iowa to Robert and Muriel Marner Hamilton. Ann graduated from Sigourney High School in 1968. She continued her education at the University of Iowa and Truman State, earning a Master’s Degree in Special Education. Ann taught special education at Mid-Prairie Jr High for 10 years, then worked at ACT until her retirement.

Ann is survived by her sister, Tracy Hamilton, her stepson, Alex Ellis, his wife, Melissa, and their sons, Elliott and Oliver, her sweet spoiled cats, Ebony, Ivory and Zorra, her cousins and uncle, and lots of good friends. She leaves behind her beautiful hosta gardens, a house full of memories, and the Iowa Hawkeyes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Ellis, her parents, and her brother, Greg.

Services will be held on Friday, July 19 at Powell Funeral Home in Sigourney. Visitation will be at 2 pm with a memorial service at 3 pm. A celebration of life will be held later in Iowa City.
